Director of Public Health Programs and Policies Gulf Center for Disease Prevention and Control (GCDC) Saudi Arabia
Alfawaz holds degrees from the University of Leeds, UK (Ph.D.), and from King Saud University, KSA (M.Sc., B.Sc.)
She is the Director of Public Health Programs and Policies at the Gulf Center for Disease Prevention and Control (GCDC). She is responsible for achieving the organization’s mission to enable the prevention of communicable and non-communicable diseases, and the promotion of healthy communities across the Gulf, through developing evidence-based regional public health programs, strategies, guidelines, policies, and practices.
Prior to joining the GCDC, she was the Chief Officer for Health Improvement and Promotion at the Saudi Public Health Authority (Weqaya). Moreover, Alfawaz held different positions at the Saudi Ministry of Health, she led the Support and Development Unit at the General Directorate of Health Programs and Chronic Diseases and was the Director of the Diet and Physical Activity National Program.
She had also chaired and membered several Saudi national committees related to public health and non-communicable diseases.
And she is the author of a number of scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals.
