Professor Kerry-Anne Rye is Deputy Head of the School of Biomedical Sciences. She obtained her PhD from Flinders University of South Australia in 1986 and followed this with postdoctoral training at The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Professor Rye is recognised for her work on high density lipoprotein (HDL) structure, function and remodelling and was the first to report that HDLs have anti-diabetic and anti-inflammatory properties. Her current research focuses are on understanding the pathogenesis of diabetes-accelerated atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, reducing recurrent events in myocardial infarction patients and the development of new therapies for treatment of these disorders.
